My books are an eclectic mix, though certain themes run through or inform most of them: an interest in history, a connection to land and waterscapes, and an awareness of belonging and identity. In each of my novels (so far) I have created fictional characters and put them in a real place at a real time.

I’ve written four novels (all set in East Anglia but independent of each other), a fiction/non-fiction mix of stories inspired by prisoner-of-war depots, two biographies (one of John Howard the prison reformer and one of Sue Ryder the philanthropist), three collections of poetry, cycling guides and short stories. As well as being keen to write more biographies and/or novels I’d also like to try my hand at stories for children.
